CHEST, VOL. 63, NO. 4, APRIL 1973 SUPPLEMENT sone; 2 ) systemic corticosteroid administration restores the responsiveness of adenyl cyclase to betaadrenergic stimulation; 3 ) systemic corticosteroids inhibit the increased ATPase activity, possibly with a concomitaiit decrease in transport, contractile and secretory processes; and 4 ) corticosteroids at high levels may inhibit cyclic A vIP phosphodiesterase activity. The data also suggest that the therapeutic use of alpha-adrenergic blocking agents such as phentolamine, shown to be effective against asthma in Europe,9 should be studied clinically.

The Role of Adrenergic Receptors on Neural Excitability and Synaptic Plasticity: A Narrative Review
Adrenergic receptors have an important role in neural excitability and synaptic plasticity. Despite a lot of studies on these receptors, their exact role in brain disorders accompanied with hyperexcitability has not been determined. There are also controversies on their role in synaptic plasticity. In this review article, the important studies done in this regard have been reviewed to achieve a...
متن کاملRole of adenosine receptors and protein phosphatases in the reversal of pentylenetetrazol-induced potentiation phenomenon by theta pulse stimulation in the CA1 region of rat hippocampal slices
The effect of theta pulse stimulation (TPS) on pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced long-term potentiation of population spikes (PS) was studied in the hippocampal CA1 in vitro. A transient PTZ application produced a long-lasting enhancement of PS amplitude. A 3-min episode of TPS delivered at a higher intensity produced complete reversal of the PTZ potentiation when delivered during the last minute...
متن کاملEvaluation of the use of alpha-amylase, cellulase, xylanase, and beta-glucanase enzymes in vitro and in vivo on non-specific immune indices, intestinal bacterial flora, cholesterol, and blood glucose of rainbow trout
One of the limitations of aquaculture is the supply of fish meal needed for the aquaculture industry, but the use of plant items instead of fish meal contain anti-nutrients such as non-starch polysaccharides, which is one of the main limitations of using plant items in the diet of carnivorous fish. The present study investigated the in vivo and in vitro enzymes of alpha-amylase, cellulase, xyla...

متن کاملP26: Long-Term Potentiation: The Mechanisms of CaMKII in Lerarning and Memory
Long-term potentiation (LTP) is a form of activity dependent plasticity that induced by high-frequency stimulation or theta burst stimulation and results in synaptic transmission. Several Studies have been shown that LTP is one of the most important processes in the CNS that plays an important role in learning and memory formation. Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is a major...
